Los Angeles, CA – West Coast OG’s Gwamba Turmoil released their debut single “Goddess of Mercy” September 7, 2026 via Red Seed Records.

“Goddess of Mercy” is the lead single from Gwamba Turmoils’s upcoming 10 track album Overdrive scheduled for release mid-December.

The band features namesakes guitarist/vocalist Brian “Gwamba” Wenzel (Okra Pickles) in force with Brent “Turmoil” Turner (Mad Reign), as well as DJ Nicholson (The Mimes) playing bass

“My buddies in LA kept raving about Gwamba’s amazing guitar chops” muses Turmoil, “this art is my metal dream and nightmare both coming true.”

“Turmoil and I kept running into each other – then he called me and said he wanted to ‘exploit my brain for selfish musical purposes’. I was thrilled at the proposition so we hit the studio and spit out ten fresh tunes.” stated Gwamba.

Gwamba Turmoil has been joined live by MC5 frontman Brad Brooks who makes a guest appearance on another upcoming single “Crush”slated as a follow up to their debut single. Brad Brooks commented “Gwamba Turmoil is so compelling lyrically and artistically it kicks me in the head – I feel at home anytime I join them.”

About Gwamba Turmoil:

Brent “Turmoil” Turner founded the metal outfit Mad Reign in 1982 in San Francisco. Their debut EP Salute The New Flag was released on Iron Works Records and the band toured the U.S soon thereafter. Upon suffering the deaths of singer Frank Starr, drummer Bill Gagliardi, and Guitarist Greg Spellings as well as numerous roadies and their manager, Mad Reign disbanded in 2000. Turmoil went on to join San Diego’s O.D. Posse which disbanded after the murder of a fan at a live show. 

Brian “Gwamba” Wenzel founded the band Okra Pickles in Sacramento, CA. Okra Pickles were an  alternative/rock band from Sacramento, California, known for albums like No Lifeguard on Duty at the Genepool (1997) and energetic local reunion shows. Gwamba obtained critical acclaim for “Dashboard Jesus” and other cult classics. 

Gwamba also has played lead guitar for metal gods Defiance and is featured in the current line-up of Black Oak Arkansas
