“STUPOR” serves as the introductory chapter to ENSTRIFE’s upcoming concept album, ECHOES. On its face, the song carries all the energy of a late night anthem built for loudspeakers and wild crowds. Underneath its heavy, kinetic exterior, the track deals with something far more grounded: the quiet urge to tune out the noise when life gets overwhelming.

The idea first came together during an unassuming night out at Duff’s, the legendary heavy metal bar in Brooklyn. Guitarist Jeff Hinz caught a melody in the middle of conversation and crowd noise, which eventually grew into the anchor for the entire song. Frontwoman Layla Yvonne moves fluidly between aggressive energy and melodic vulnerability, capturing that strange middle ground between wanting to escape reality and trying to find the strength to navigate it.

The music video for “STUPOR” translates the track’s heavy intensity into a direct, relatable statement on modern burnout, a message that hits especially close to home in New York City. In a city that never stops moving, where basic survival, career success, and everyday life require a relentless, nonstop grind, it is frighteningly easy to lose yourself in the shuffle.

The video pushes back against that endless hustle mentality, offering a reminder that the most important things in life are the people you share it with. It delivers this point with a healthy mix of humor and absolute chaos. By leaning into unpredictable turns, the visual narrative embraces a simple truth: life rarely goes according to plan. Things break down, expectations shift, and your best option is usually to adapt on the fly, roll with the punches, and hold onto the friends who keep you grounded.

About ENSTRIFE

ENSTRIFE is a Brooklyn-based progressive metal band known for combining heavy technicality, cinematic themes, and dramatic live energy. Originally conceived as a studio production entity by guitarist and veteran musician Jeff Hinz, the project rapidly shifted course when the raw, combustible chemistry between its founding members made a permanent live lineup undeniable. Built on a foundation of intricate soundscapes, complex time signatures, and undeniable hooks, ENSTRIFE creates music that is as emotionally resonant as it is technically uncompromising.

At the center of the band’s theatrical sound is frontwoman Layla Yvonne. Utilizing a background in acting to command the stage with dramatic intensity, Yvonne shifts effortlessly from soaring mezzo soprano melodies to devastating, feral power. She further elevates ENSTRIFE’s sonic signature by weaving live alto saxophone passages directly through the band’s crushing heavy arrangements, bringing a rare, multi dimensional flair to modern metal.

Flanking Hinz in the band’s dual guitar assault is Ali Cone II, whose technical precision injects sophisticated sweep picking, intricate lead work, and melodic elegance into the group’s dense sonic walls. Grounding this volatile instrumentation is bassist Peter Getzoni, the band’s immovable anchor. Getzoni consciously balances technical mastery with rock solid, pocket driven grooves, ensuring the songs maintain a heavy, undeniable bounce without getting lost in excess notes. Driving the entire machine forward is drummer William Manser, a savant of rhythm whose high efficiency setup, lightning fast execution, and razor sharp timing give the group its relentless momentum.

ENSTRIFE built an obsessive underground following through absolute artistic defiance. In 2021, when recording plans stalled globally, the band tracked their raw analog EP In Medias Res directly to physical tape as a gesture of gratitude to early fans, later following it with a live second volume where every single copy was completely unique. This momentum erupted with their 2024 debut concept album Messiah Marionette, a psychological exploration of internal strife and blind trust that cemented their status across the northeastern metal circuit.

ENSTRIFE is set to release their sophomore full length album ECHOES November 10, 2026.

Where their debut explored that personal choice, ECHOES examines living within the consequences of a world that failed to listen, turning its focus outward toward societal division, manipulation, everyday anxiety, and the search for resilience. Recorded at Westfall Recording Co. in Farmingdale, New York, and co-produced by Hinz alongside Anthony Lopardo, Ray Marte, and Billy Pfister, the album expands the band’s thematic and musical scope. ENSTRIFE will embark on a regional tour in late 2027 in support of the new record.
